In Costa Rica, a only few books in german and english languages are available. Therefore it is recommended to bring the appropriate literature from home. Some hotel owners furnish libraries, in which one can supply oneself using the exchange procedure (e.g. give two take one) . You can also bring your books to Mora Books (San Jose the exchange procedure (e.g. give two take one) . You can also bring your books to Mora Books (San Jose C.-3-5/Av.1). There you can change them for other ones or they will buy them. Perhaps you can contribute a little to increase the number of foreign books in Costa Rica a little.
