On the 18th of september 1502 Christopher Columbus made his first step on the new country in the area today called Limón. He believed he would find a lot of gold here and so he gave it the name Costa Rica (Rich Coast). It extends from Nicaragua in the north and goes down approximately 450 km south to Panama. Costa Rica is the bridge between north and south America and has the Pacific ocean on the west and the Caribean sea on the westside. It is only a little country (51,1 sqkm) but it has a remarkable countryside and climate zones, and many species of plants and animals. Finally it has a lot of large beaches, mountains and many active and inactive volcanos. Costa Rica is the right choise for the sport enthusiast as well as for the friends of nature and will be the basis for an unforgetable journey.
